Hannover as a junction in the rapid transit of the German railroad company »Deutsche Bahn« is easily reachable with their express trains »ICE«. From Berlin it takes 1 hour 30 min, from Cologne 2 hours 39 minutes and from Munich 4 hours 11 minutes to get here.

To reach the festival area with public transport, you first have to get from the central station (»Hauptbahnhof«) to the main junction of trams called »Kröpcke«. On foot you need about 5 minutes if you leave the central station towards »Ernst-August-Platz« and walk straightforward through the shopping arcade. Otherwise you can go one station with one of the following trams: 1 in the direction of »Laatzen/Sarstedt«, 2 in the direction of »Rethen«, 3 or 7 in the direction of »Wettbergen«, 8 in the direction of »Messe/Nord« or 9 in the direction of »Empelde«.
At the »Kröpcke« you entrain tram 6 and go until the last stop »Messe/Ost (EXPO-Plaza)«. From there it is a five minutes walk to the Design Center, crossing a pedestrian bridge and the large plaza.
